Femaleguineapigs, particularly those used for breeding, face elevated risk due toirondemands of pregnancy and potentialbloodloss during parturition. The impact ofirondeficiency anemia onguineapighealth is significant and progressive. Early stages may cause subtle fatigue and reduced activity that owners might dismiss as normal variation.
Benefits of Piggy Boost by Refit Piggy Boost by REFIT is uniquely formulated to suffice theirondeficiency that may be caused in piglets immediately after their birth. Piggy Boost, anirontonicsupplementforpigs, has multiple benefits, including enhancing redbloodcell formation and helping the body restore hemoglobin count.
On-farm testing ofbloodhemoglobin, which is an accurate indicator of a babypigsironstatus, is simple, effective, and has been used to understand the prevalence ofirondeficiency anemia in herds across the country.
Implications When raised indoors, ironsupplementation of suckling piglets is essential for their good health. Injectingironto the neonate will adequately prevent anaemia, provided the dose is appropriate for the weight and growth rate of the piglet.
Prevention and treatment ofirondeficiency inpigsis an economically sound decision. Anaemic piglets have a lower average daily weight gain, higher risk of infectious disease and, therefore, increased mortality.
Essential Macrominerals forPigsCalcium and Phosphorus: bone and lean tissue building, muscle contraction, bloodclotting, metabolism. The ratio of total calcium to total phosphorus should be kept between 1.25:1 and 1:1 so both minerals don't interfere with each other. Sodium Chloride (sodium + chlorine): electrolyte, pH balance.
