Buildingautomationsystems, also known asbuildingmanagementsystemorbuildingenergymanagementsystem, is the automatic centralized control of abuilding's HVAC, electrical, lighting, shading, access control, securitysystems, and other interrelatedsystems.
The airtight design ofPassive House buildingsresults in superior levels of indoor air quality that prevent air leakage. Airtight design eliminates most external air infiltration. An airtight barrier is especially beneficialforoccupants sensitive to outdoor air pollution and odors. It takes into account factors such as thebuilding’s location, orientation, insulation, and the efficiency of heating and coolingsystems.Passive housedesign and construction ensures lowenergyuse and costs, thermal comfort throughout, and good air quality. But do these structures live up to the expectations when fully occupied and in use? Find out with monitoring technology. The Study builds upon Opinion Dynamics’ previous research a white paper onPassiveHouses, which was completed for the CPUC in December 2019.1 That paper reported findings regarding the opportunities for, and barriers to, incorporatingPassiveHousestandards into California’sBuildingEnergyCode. This Study extends that research to explore how widespread deployment ofPassiveHouses ...
